Woodland Park, Colorado

Today we headed west on Highway 24 past Old Colorado City and Manitou Springs to Woodland Park. The drive after Manitou Springs is full of oohs and ahhhs! Just look at the pictures....

We arrived in time for lunch and we stopped in the Hungry Bear Restaurant. The were lots of cars out front....it had to be good!

Inside was very eclectic...bears everywhere....tables, booths and even a small counter. We were seated where I could see into the kitchen. The cook even danced to the music...

They serve breakfast and lunch and you can order either until 1400. We each had crepes, Jim Strawberry and I had blueberry. We each had an order of hash browns and split an order of bacon. Iced tea was our choice of drink.

My blueberry crepes. I forgot to mention that it was topped with whipped cream....

Jim's crepes came the same way...and they also gave us warm maple syrup but we didn't use it.

After lunch we strolled around town, not much to see really. The following pictures were the interesting bits.

Me and my new friend

Mural on the side of the building

Wooden sculpture at the overlook

Pikes Peak from the overlook

I like the store fronts

The Cowhand had some fur coats that were fun to try on.

We didn't stop here, Jim wanted to go to Wal-Mart! :)

The drive home was just as lovely.

Our outing wasn't very long and once we stopped to pick up some forgotten grocery items we headed home. We arrived in time for a visit with Marilyn and Ed. We sat outside and chatted for a bit and then we swapped food...Ed made some goulash that was quite tasty and I made some pinto beans that had cooked all day in the crock pot.
