Highlands, Texas

Yesterday Anne, Scotty, Jim and I went to Port Aransas so we could walk in the surf of the Gulf of Mexico. Little did we know that we'd be sandblasted! We stopped at a Subway and got sandwiches so we could picnic on the beach. It's a good thing we had beer to wash the sand down! LOL

We did enjoy our short stay but had to leave because it was just to windy. My face felt like fine sandpaper.

After we left the beach we headed to the Leona Belle Turnbull Birding Center, http://www.cityofportaransas.org/Leonabelle_Turnbull_Birding_Center.cfm.

It was less windy and we saw a lot of ducks and water birds. I even found the gator! Saw a crab that had his claws outstretched which made him look huge and ferocious. :)

My camera doesn't do well with zoom and these pictures aren't the greatest. Jim took some shots but I don't have them on this computer.

We also went into some of the beach shops. Didn't buy anything but it's always fun to look. Once we'd had our fill of the beach town we rode the ferry back to Aransas Pass and on home. We had to detour because of a big grass fire. I immediately took a shower to rid myself of the grit and sand.

For dinner we had our leftover seafood and some rice and veggies. Sat outside in the balmy breeze. After dinner Anne, Jim and I went down to the pier to feed the gulls. What fun! Again I don't have pictures because they're on Jim's puter.

We slept with the windows open and I enjoyed it very much...I got up just before 0800 this morning and Jim got up shortly after that. We had to leave and drive north to this location. It didn't take us long to get ready but we didn't leave until 1030. The drive was very smooth and uneventful until just outside of Houston. Washboard roads and then an accident which slowed us to stop and go traffic.

We arrived at Houston Leisure RV Resort, http://www.houstonleisurerv.com , about 1500 and since we're only staying overnight we didn't do much to set up. We had Domino pizza for supper and the four of us sat outside in the beautiful weather to enjoy it. the temperature was in the mid to upper 70's.

After dinner Anne, Scotty and I walked around the resort. It's pretty full and it looks like some folks are here permanently.
